Job Summary
Distribution Technician I
Monitors high pressure (HP) crossings when contractors are working near QGC HP lines. Monitors blue stakes, and contacts contractors about proximity to HP lines. May work with contractors, developers, property owners, state officials, local officials, DOT, and others regarding HP line locations, conflicts, encroachments, relocations, and other issues. Under general supervision, performs operations, inspections, and maintenance (leak repair, replacement) on natural gas facilities. Maintains all construction equipment assigned (vehicle and associated equipment). May assist with pipeline emergency response actions, in coordination with other responding employees or local emergency officials. May complete inspections on high pressure jobs. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Distribution Technician II
Monitors high pressure (HP) crossings when contractors are working near QGC HP lines. Monitors onecall marks, and contacts contractors about proximity to HP lines. Works with contractors, developers, property owners, state officials, local officials, DOT, and others regarding HP line locations, conflicts, encroachments, relocations, and other issues. Under general supervision, performs operations, inspections and maintenance (leak repair, replacement) on natural gas facilities. Performs pipeline emergency response actions, coordinating with other responding employees or local emergency officials. Maintains all construction equipment assigned (vehicle and associated equipment). May complete inspections on high-pressure jobs.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences required for entry into this job include the following:
Distribution Technician I
1 year directly related experience. Basic knowledge of high pressure, construction, and maintenance procedures and policies. Basic knowledge of HP distribution system in assigned area. Knowledge of construction equipment operation. Knowledge of pipeline diameters, thickness, and grades in relation to one another. Knowledge of operating and construction safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of company emergency plan and safety policies. Knowledge of, and ability to use, personal computer and related software. Knowledge of basic math. Ability to read and work from blueprints and design drawings. Ability to work with design engineering on facility configurations and complications. Ability to read company distribution maps. Ability to handle complaints and problems, with minimal supervision. Ability to lift 100 pounds. Ability to see objects at close range. Ability to see in the distance, and to determine the distance and relationship between objects. Ability to match or discriminate between colors. Ability to interact with others, to communicate clear instructions, and to evaluate results. Ability to distinguish the nature of sounds, and to be able to hear equipment and machinery. Ability to recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions. Ability to respond to emergency conditions, which may include changing flat tires, chaining up vehicles, operating jacks, performing minor maintenance, and operating company phones and radios.
Distribution Technician II
At least 2 years experience as a Distribution Technician I or equivalent
Knowledge of high-pressure, construction, and maintenance procedures and policies;
Knowledge of HP distribution system in assigned area;
Knowledge of construction equipment operations;
Knowledge of pipe diameters, thickness, and grades in relation to one another;
Knowledge of operating and construction safety practices and procedures;
Knowledge of company emergency plan and safety policies;
Knowledge of, and ability to use, personal computer and related software;
Knowledge of basic math;
Ability to read and work from blueprints and design drawings;
Ability to work with design engineering on facility configurations and complications;
Ability to read company distribution maps;
Ability to handle complaints and problems with minimal supervision;
Ability to communicate, orally and in writing, effectively;
Ability to lift 100 pounds, unassisted;
Ability to see objects at close range, and to determine the distance and relationship between objects;
Ability to match and discriminate between colors;
Ability to interact with others, to communicate clear instructions, and to evaluate results;
Ability to distinguish the nature of sounds, to determine if equipment is running correctly, or to hear a gas leak;
Ability to recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions;
Ability to respond to emergency conditions, which may include changing flat tires, chaining up vehicles, operating jacks, performing minor maintenance, and operating two-way radios.
The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications. Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above .
